The operatives of the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) have pledged to cooperate with other statutory security agencies to ensure hitch free gubernatorial election in the state on the eighteenth of this month.
The AVG members made this commitment when they received a high powered delegation of the Supervisory Committee of the Agency who toured the three senatorial district of the state.
According to a statement signed by the Chairman of the AVG Supervisory committee and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Vigilante Matters, Chief Ikechukwu Aduba, members of the group would resist any attempt to scuttle the forthcoming election with their last energy.
The statement also emphasised that the group would checkmate any intrusion of trouble makers from neighbouring states on the day of the gubernatorial election.
They equally noted that they would demonstrate their gratitude to Governor Willie Obiano by ensuring that no rigging was perpetrated in any community in the state during the poll.
Chief Aduba assured that in due time, the welfare package of the vigilante operatives would further be enhanced with insurance coverage including catering for the families of those who might lose their lives in official duties and called on philanthropists and public spirited citizens of the state to assist the state government in uplifting AVG operations in Anambra state.
Other members of the committee present during the tour were the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Chief Chikodi Anarah, the Secretary of the group, Mr. Oscar Christopher and retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Charles Osegbue among others.
